My name name is Heidi and I’m 35 years old. I grew up in the archipelago in Southwestern Finland. This part of the country is bilingual and my mother tongue is actually Finland Swedish. Twelve years ago, I decided to follow my heart and to move to Bern, the capital of Switzerland. Today, I still live in Bern, in an architectonically interesting house with a small garden, together with my family. I’m married to the most supportive and caring hubby there is. I have two loving daughters and a wonderful bonus son. And two whimsical kittens.
I’ve been interested in food for as long as I can remember. According to my parents, I enjoyed escargots à la Bourguignonne as a kid. My culinary journey really took off when I was in fifth grade, though. During the summer vacation, I participated in various cooking and baking challenges and spent most of the time in the kitchen. Later, my baby brother told me, that summer was one of the best summers of his life, because I made him cake every day. I autodidactically educated myself by reading all cookbooks and watching all cooking shows available to me. I visited Michelin-starred restaurants and eventually fell in love with fine dining. I started collecting china and cutlery. Focusing more and more on plating felt like the natural next step.
When I’m not cooking, I capture moments with my camera. I photograph my family, nature and food, obviously. In my professional life, I help banks and other financial intermediaries to stay regulatory compliant. As a lawyer, I work with words. I enjoy that to such an extent that I even wrote a doctoral thesis once.
The blog is my medium for my creativity, in terms of cooking and plating as well as in terms of writing and photography.
